Monte Riga
Das freistehende Haus wurde vor wenigen Jahren fuer den eigenen Bedarf renoviert und neu eingerichtet. Mit knapp 60 qm ist es fuer Familien bis 2 Kindern geeignet. Es strahlt Ruhe und Harmonie aus, und zugleich ist die gesamte Einrichtung sehr praktisch konzipiert.
Das Haus hat zwei Etagen. In der unteren Etage befinden sich das Wohnzimmer, der Kuechenbereich, ein Abstellraum und der Balkon. Zum Schlafzimmer, und von dort zum Bad, gelangt man ueber eine Treppe nach oben. Im unteren Teil erkennt man an den dicken, etwas unebenen, aber besonders waermeisolierenden Waenden noch die Vorgeschichte dieses Rusticos als Wirtschaftsgebaeude. Unter anderem wurde das gesamte Gebaelk, das Dach und das Terrassengelaender vor einigen Jahren neu eingezogen.
Von der Dorfgasse hin zur Kirche biegt man durch eine Gartentuere und eine Treppe nach unten auf die rechts neben dem Haus liegende Terrasse ab. Diese bleibt durch eine Weinpergola im Sommer schattig, so dass man sonnengeschuetzt in bequemen, stilvollen Gartenstuehlen am groesseren Esstisch sitzen kann. Jedoch laesst sich auch die volle Sonne und der Blick ueber das Cannobiner Tal von der Terrasse aus geniessen, sowohl an einem kleineren Tisch in Gelaendernaehe sitzend, als auch von einer Sitzbank vor dem Haus aus. Zur Terrasse gehoert weiterhin rueckseitig ein Backofen und ein Brunnenbecken mit Wasserhahn.
Von der Terrasse gelangt man ueber die Eingangstuer direkt ins Wohnzimmer. Hier eroeffnet sich der Blick links zur Treppe nach oben, und nach vorn ueber drei Stufen zum Kuechenbereich. Man findet an der Fensterseite einen groesseren runden Esstisch und vier Korblehnstuehle vor, sowie an der Rueckwand ein bequemes Sitz- und Schlafsofa. Auf einer Kommode neben dem Sofa stehen der Flachbild-Fernseher und ein Radiogeraet mit Kassetten- und CD-Teil (dazu gibt es eine groessere Sammlung von Kassetten und CDs).
Zentral im Wohnzimmer befindet sich auch der Herd. Der Fussboden besteht aus hellgelben, pflegeleichten Terracotta-Fliesen. An den verschiedensten Plaetzen im Wohnzimmer, aber auch sonst im Haus kann man reizvolle Kunst- und Ziergegenstaende, aber auch Buecher und Informationsmaterial finden.
Der Kuechenbereich ist mit zahlreichen Kuechengeraeten und Geschirr ausgestattet. Das Essen kann man wahlweise im Wohnzimmer, auf dem Balkon oder auf der Terrasse einnehmen (um dabei von Balkon und Terrasse zugleich die Landschaft zu geniessen). Der Kuehlschrank, sowie viele praktische Materialien befinden sich in der neben der Kueche liegenden Abstallkammer.
Der ueberdachte Balkon ist ebenfalls direkt vom Kuechenbereich aus betretbar. Hier laden eine Sitzbank, zwei bequeme Klappstuehle und ein kleiner Tisch zum erholsamen Aufenthalt ein.
Man schaut nach unten in die Gaerten der italienischen Nachbarn, nach links auf den zwischen den Nachbarhaeusern hervorschauenden 800 Jahre alten romanischen Glockenturm, man sieht hinueber zur Kirche des auf steilem Hang liegenden Nachbarortes Spoccia. Der Blick geht aber auch weit talabwaerts Richtung Lago Maggiore, und talaufwaerts zu den Bergen des Nationalparks Val Grande, mit dem attraktiven, aber schwer zu besteigenden Monte Torrione als hoechster sichtbarer Erhebung. Der eigentliche Blickfang aber ist der dem Haus direkt gegenueberliegende Monte Riga. So nah und ebenmaessig er ueber dem tief eingeschnittenen Tal thront, so schwer ist er zu Fuss zu erreichen.
Geht man nun die Treppe im Haus nach oben, so kommt man, durch einen Vorhang getrennt, in den 14 qm grossen Schlafraum, mit dem Doppelbett (180 x 200 cm) auf der linken Seite. In diesem Raum befinden sich aber auch ein Stilmoebel-Schreibtisch (Thonet, etwa um 1900) mit Hocker, von dem aus man, beim Schreiben oder Lesen, ebenfalls einen weiten Talblick geniessen kann. Ein umlaufender Sims in Tischhoehe bietet sowohl ein aufgelockertes Raumgefuehl, als auch Moeglichkeiten zur Ablage bzw. individuellen Gestaltung. Der Raumabschnitt ueber der Treppe ist mit einem Hochbett genutzt, das zur Seite hin gut abgesichert, und ueber eine kleine Leiter auch gut (fuer Kinder) besteigbar ist. Neben der Treppe sowie in einem weiteren kleinen Schrank neben dem Doppelbett gibt es Moeglichkeiten zur Ablage von Garderobe und Waesche.
Auf der Rueckseite des Schlafzimmers liegt die Tuer zum Bad. In diesem befinden sich Waschbecken, Klosett, Duschkabine und Waschmaschine. Schnell aufheizen laesst sich das Bad mit einem dreistufigen Heizstrahler, und zu lueften ist es ueber ein kleines Kippfenster hin zur Gasse.

Orasso liegt an den Haengen des romantischen, teilweise tief eingeschnittenen Cannobiner Tals, das von einer schmalen, wenig befahrenen Strasse durchzogen wird, von der weitere Zufahrten zu den verstreut an den Haengen liegenden Bergdoerfern abzweigen.
Das Haus und das ganze Cannobiner Tal ist eine Einladung zuallererst fuer jeden, der beim Wandern in der Abgeschiedenheit der Berge seine Erholung findet, aber auch fuer alle, die einen stillen Urlaubsort suchen, um sich von dort aus eine kulturell und landschaftlich reizvolle Region zu erschliessen (auch im Winter).
Vom Haus fuehren in alle Richtungen sehr gut markierte und gepflegte Wander-wege. Insbesondere kann man - als kleine Alternative zum Lago Maggiore - in 20 Minuten Fussweg zu einer romantisch gelegenen, sonnigen Badestelle am Oras-so-Bach gelangen. Dagegen erreicht man oberhalb des Ortes eine wunderschoene Alm, wo man als besondere Attraktion eine funktionstuechtige Riesenschaukel vorfindet, auf der das Gefuehl des Schwebens in den Himmel aufkommt.
Lohnenswerte Ausfluege fuehren zu den Orten und Wanderwegen im westlich gelegenen Vigezzotal (8km), dem "Tal der Maler", an das sich noerdoestlich das ebenso romantische Centovalli-Tal im Schweizer Tessin anschliesst. Beide Taeler koennen von den reizvollen Staedten Locarno bis Domodossola auf einer sich an den Haengen entlangwindenden Schmalspurbahn durchquert werden.
In suedlicher Richtung sind ausgedehnte und einsame Bergtouren im Val-Grande-Nationalpark moeglich, dem groessten Wildnisgebiet Italiens und der Alpen.
Vor allem aber ist natuerlich im Osten der Lago Maggiore ein Magnet, wobei es in Cannobio (15 km) einen gepflegten Strand mit schattigen Wiesen, sowie eine Strandpromenade mit vielen Restaurants gibt.

In Cannobio geht es am Ortsende Richtung Malesco ins Val Cannobina, mit Abzweig nach Orasso in etwa 15 km. Von der Piazza am Ortseingang 200m zu Fuss einfach gerade aus in den Ort bis auf ein im Weg stehendes Haus, das links umgangen werden muss. Dahinter beginnt die Via alla Chiesa (zur Kirche hin), unser Haus ist das erste rechts hinter einem runden Tordurchgang, und falls noch ein Zweifel bleibt, so steht am Briefkasten auch unser Name.
Die nächte Autobahn ist ca. 30 km entfernt.
